Building Partnerships

In 2015 Georgia Tech launched Serve-Learn-Sustain, a one-of-a-kind program that commits a Research I technological institute to training students across all majors to use their disciplinary knowledge to collaborate with diverse stakeholders to “create sustainable communities,” using service learning and civic engagement as its core methodologies. SLS works with faculty across campus to facilitate partnerships with nonprofit, community, municipal, and industry partners in Atlanta and beyond to prepare students to use science, data, and technology to benefit people and the planet, in ways that both address persistent social and environmental challenges and advance community-driven visions for a better future.

Creating Change

Partnerships between CBSC and SLS have already begun, largely around efforts to provide sustainable energy to low-income neighborhoods in Metro-Atlanta. Additionally, efforts are being made to build a Civic Leadership Program partnership between the two instutions, which will build upon collaborations that our universities have already initiated together over the past two years.
